I guess Border Collies are like potato chips, as you can’t have just
one! Riva was joined in the spring of 2001 by Border Collie
“Raymond”, who is just a pistol. Ray had three surgeries for
shoulder instability in 2003, an injury which was caused by a run-in
with a lawn chair when he was five months old. After two years of
missed diagnoses, surgeries, a month in rehab in Chicago, and
several months of rehab here at home, Ray managed to come all the
way back. He finished his AKC CH in a small number of shows in
December of 2003, made his debut in both agility and herding in
2004, and earned his CD in 2006 and his CDX in 2007. Raymond also
finished his Herding Championship in May of 2007, making him a Dual
Champion. He is currently preparing for his Utility Dog title and is
also competing in rally. Ray's boundless enthusiasm for work and
life in general has overcome his devastating injury. He is an
inspiration.
