Piper

We got Piper in March of 2005, from Nebraska Humane Society. I was doing some volunteer training of dogs there. I took her out of the kennel to work with her, and I fell in love. She was so cute and very sweet. But since we already had three dogs we weren't even thinking of getting another one. So I put her back after her session and went on to other dogs.

I was sure she would get adopted soon. Well I waited three days and checked to see if she was still there. She was. So I told Doug about "this darling little terrier" and he said "let's go see her". Of course we adopted her.

Piper is a Jack Russell Terrier. She is about seven years old and we are her third home. She wasn't housetrained, so we had some remedial work to do. At first her tail was always tucked, unlike most terriers, but she is starting to gain confidence. As you might notice in some of her photos, she is skinny. She actually has gained a half pound since we got her. She's healthy and eats well but so active it is hard to keep weight on her.

Piper is so much fun. She is almost never sitting still. We have had to learn about living with a JRT -- she has a vertical jump of at least three feet, can climb up the outside of a huge wire crate to see what is on top, and can open drawers.

Piper is a delightful sweet little dog and is now in her forever home.
