Who Are We?The Omaha 4-Play Flyball Team was started back in 1989 by Denise Gurss and Jamie Schacht. We were the first flyball team in Omaha and in the state of Nebraska. While the team roster has fluctuated over the years, we still have a committed core group of people whose main goal is to have fun. We are all members of, and train at, Companion Dog Club. We went to our first tournament in Kansas City in 1989. We arrived without any balls, hardly finished a race, and earned a grand total of 3 points. All things considered, we finished the day of racing very excited and totally hooked on the sport. We couldn't wait to do it again. We were also overwhelmed at how friendly and helpful everyone was. Those humble beginnings gave us a great start. We have come a long way since that first tournament and we held our own first tournament in April of 1995. All in all, it was a success, and we have been holding an April tournament ever since. A couple of years later, we added a second "no-frills" tournament in December. We have had a number of milestones since those beginning days, including our first Onyx and Flyball Grand Champion (FDGCH) dog, Monty (Jamie Smith), and the marriage of two of our long time team members, Jamie Schacht and Dale Smith, in November of 1999. Omaha 4-Play is more than just a flyball team. We are a group of people who are first and foremost friends. We just all happen to love our dogs and love playing flyball.
