Member Training NightMember Training Night (MTN) is a time period, one night a week, during which any provisional or regular member in good standing may use the training building for training their dogs.  Applicants who have paid their dues, but have not yet been voted on, may also use MTN.  It is the only time that non-trainers pass holders may use the rings.  The night of the week varies from month to month.

FAQ

HOW DO I JOIN CDC?
Fill out an application. Applications are available off our web site or at the Club building. If you want an application sent my mail, please call. Send the application and a check for dues to the address stated on the application. Once your application and dues check are received, you will be voted on as a Provisional Member at the next General Membership Meeting. Dues are pro-rated after the beginning of the year. There is an initiation fee of $40 when you join for the first time.

CAN I JOIN THE CLUB IF I’VE NEVER TAKEN A CLASS FROM CDC?
Yes. If you have taken a class from CDC, the $40 initiation fee is waived. Once the fee is paid, it can be applied towards payment of a class if you want to take a class after joining the Club. Currently the fee is $40.00.

WHAT IS PROVISIONAL MEMBERSHIP?
A Provisional Member is a "beginner" to the Club. It is the first stage of membership, sort of a "getting to know you" period. A Provisional Member cannot vote or buy a Trainer’s Pass. Provisional membership is limited to a maximum of one full year plus the time to the next Annual meeting.

WHAT IS AUXILIARY MEMBERSHIP?
An Auxiliary Member joins the Club to receive the newsletter and is not interested in participating with the Club training or functions. Auxiliary Members cannot vote or buy a Trainer’s Pass.

WHAT IS JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP?
A Junior Member is under 18 years of age and sponsored by a parent or legal guardian. Junior Members shall enjoy all the rights and privileges of the Club except the right to vote.

WHAT IS REGULAR MEMBERSHIP?
Regular Members are entitled to all the rights and privileges of the Club, providing they remain in good standing. You must be a Regular Member in order to vote or buy a Trainer’s pass.

HOW DO I GET FROM PROVISIONAL TO REGULAR?
Provisional Members may be nominated for Regular membership after they have contributed four hours of service to the Club. Two Regular Members in good standing, only one of which may have nominated the individual for Provisional membership, may nominate you. Complete a second application (no fee) and submit it to the Membership Chair to be voted at the next General Membership Meeting.

HOW CAN I WORK THE REQUIRED HOURS?
CDC has many activities that will offer opportunity to work your service hours. Contact the Membership Chair and a list will be provided.

WHAT WORK IS REQUIRED AFTER I BECOME A REGULAR MEMBER?
While you are not required to do any amount of work for the Club, you are encouraged to get involved. Since we are an all-volunteer group, members who unselfishly volunteer their time carry out CDC activities. It is currently recommended that each member devote at least 10 hours per year to Club activities. There are many things you can do to make a difference.

WHAT IS GOOD STANDING?
A member in good standing is a member that is current on all financial and property responsibilities to the Club. A member in good standing is not under any disciplinary suspension or sanction. Good standing, as well as regular membership, is required to vote or buy a Trainer’s Pass.

WHAT IS A TRAINER’S PASS? HOW DO I GET ONE?
Any Regular Member in good standing may buy a Trainer’s Pass. It is a one-year commitment and entitles you to a key to the training center. You may use the rings at any time they have not been committed for another function. You must sign an agreement to comply with building guidelines. The Trainer’s Pass Chair issues keys; he/she is listed in every newsletter.

WHAT IS MEMBER’S TRAINING NIGHT?
MTN is a time period, once a week, during which any Provisional or Regular Member (in good standing) may use the rings for training their dogs. Applicants who have paid dues but have not yet been voted in may also use MTN. The day of the week varies – see the newsletter for current information. There are other open practice times for use of the training rings. Open practice for Flyball and Agility are structured training times with guidelines. Agility open training is Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 and Flyball open training is Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00.

HOW CAN MY DOG AND I GET MORE EXPERIENCE FOR THE OBEDIENCE RING?
CDC offers Show’n Go obedience matches. These matches are set up similarly to obedience trials with mock judges and stewards. These matches are training opportunities, as you are encouraged to provide feedback to your dog during the run throughs. They also offer excellent practice and experience to obedience handlers. There is a nominal charge per run through. The match schedules are available on our web site, in our newsletter, and on flyers posted at the Club.

DO I HAVE TO ATTEND MEETINGS?
No, but all members are encouraged to attend General Membership Meetings. CDC has General Meetings six times a year. These are always the second Monday of the odd numbered months at 7:00 PM unless posted otherwise in the newsletter.

HOW CAN I GET THE DATES OF UPCOMING CLASSES?
Look in the newsletter, listen to the phone message, or check our web site.

ARE MIXED BREED DOGS ALLOWED IN THE CLUB?
Yes. All breeds are welcome and many of our members train both mixed and purebred dogs. We have had members who put titles on their dogs through registrations other than AKC. No CDC training excludes mixed breed dogs.

WHAT IS THE CHATTER?
Chatter is our newsletter. It is mailed at least 10 days prior to the General Membership Meeting. As soon as we receive a membership application, we add the name to the mailing list.
